About Boston University
Founded in 1839, Boston University is an internationally recognized private research university with more than 30,000 students participating in undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. Boston University is the fourth largest private university in the United States and was recently ranked by Times Higher Education as one of the top 100 universities in the world.

About Metropolitan College
Metropolitan College, one of Boston University’s 17 degree-granting schools and colleges, was established in 1965. The College demonstrates excellence in teaching and research, with over 60 undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs, offered full-time and part-time in convenient evening, online, and blended formats. There are nearly 30,000 Metropolitan College alumni worldwide.

About Department of Applied Social Sciences
The College’s Applied Social Sciences department responds to the education needs of a diverse student body by designing and providing practically focused yet rigorous academic programs. The department’s mission is to prepare students to think critically and strategically about the full spectrum of challenges related to managing urban communities. Metropolitan College is one of the few institutions in the country to offer graduate programs grounded in the social sciences, but focused largely on cities, urban sociology, and criminal justice.
