Criminal Justice Expert, Dr. Shea Cronin Shares His Views On the Race Gap

Racial disparities have shown little improvement. From 2015 to early 2016, 71 percent of police-civilian encounters in Boston involved persons of color. This is only a slight decrease from the 73 percent reported in the data collected between 2011 and early 2015.

“My reading of the statistics is that there has not been much change in the racial composition,” commented Dr. Shea Cronin.

Other major U.S. cities such as New York and Philadelphia also show high percentage of stops involving minorities.
